Body language and its relationship to vulnerability, power, sexuality and voyeurism in our culture fascinate me. Both materially and conceptually in my work I seek knowledge about relationships.

In 1992, when I was 18 years old and living in London, UK, I saw the exhibition ‘Frieze of Life’ at the National Gallery, the work of Edvard Munch. I connected strongly with his impression of people having three different aspects to the self; the Pure, the Seducer, and the Evil. He represented these by painting the same figure in three different outfits in a single painting; white, red, and black.

In reality people are not that simple to classify because we are all of these characteristics or none of them at different points in their lives. In these constructed photographic images this subject matter is also represented in white, red and black clothing, and through the folds in the paper and fields of colors. The dynamism of these works engages in the complexity of the organized chaos within us all.
